For anyone who does not know.. Elliston house is a 22 floor block at the top end of Wellington street If you click on the picture it will become larger...If you click again it will get a lot larger
This is the Old ferry approach, A short time after the opening of the free ferry.. before the days of the ferry it was known as Hog lane. This area is now occupied by the Waterfront leisure centre.. Can you spot what is missing from this picture ?? The Foot tunnel.......... It was started in 1910 and opened in October 1912.
Heres an unusual view of the Woolwich ferry John Burns. There is a propellor like this at each end of the boat and the pitch of the blades determine which direction the boat moves in
